What do you do when you have conquered the Gospel music industry and been the recipient of all its blessings? If you're Pastor John P. Kee, you use your influential status to help others realize their dream of soaring to such musical heights. With the release of the 2005 project John P. Kee Presents: The New Artist Showcase, Kee graciously brings soon-to-be seen notoriety to presently unknown musical talents looking to carve similar paths. Recorded live at the 2004 Victory In Praise Music and Arts Seminar, the annual event spearheaded and facilitated by Pastor Kee as a brainstorming session on how to keep youth in turmoil off the street and in the church, the twenty-one tracks included on this project are all performed by unsigned convention participants and produced by Kee. From uptempo, high-energy tracks like "What a Mighty God" to sweeping midtempo songs like "The Purpose" and "That's Enough," this disc is representative of the various musical genres explored at the yearly get-together. Cuts like the contemporary "Will You Be Ready?" and "Can't Take No More," the jazz-inflected "My Story," the peppy instrumental "Grateful," and the hip-hop "City of Pain" and "I Am" are meant to minister to the greatest number of people possible and their diverse musical palettes. Even labelmate Lil' Rufus makes an appearance for the kids with "Praying For You," from his 2005 Verity debut!
