Neither of the two women in Mary Mary are named Mary. The sibling singer/songwriters Erica and Tina Atkins chose the name based on the two Marys instrumental in Christ's ministry, His mother and Mary Magdalene. The duo first made a name for themselves penning cuts for the Dr. Doolittle and Prince of Egypt soundtracks before inking their own recording deal. Their debut, Thankful, is an original twist of R&B-infused gospel, made for those who may not yet have been touched by The Word but will be moved by the beat.
